Melinda Lee

Chief Financial Officer

Melinda Lee, CPA, CA, ICD.D, Chief Financial Officer for Aegis Brands, has over twenty years of professional accounting and investments experience as a Corporate Director and Financial Executive, including eight years of experience at the Board of Directors level.

As a member of the senior executive team, Melinda has experience in both private investment and publicly traded investment companies. Melinda has extensive knowledge in securities law with a broad range of experience in investing, corporate financing and transactions including mergers and acquisitions and take-over bids.

Tara Ramsay

Vice President, People

Tara Ramsay, Vice President, People for Aegis Brands, joined the company in 2019 with over twenty years as a human resource professional. Tara has a focused goal to develop and align programs to enhance the employee, guest and franchisee experience. In her role Tara has a keen objective to develop leaders to engage, motivate and allow for best performance to achieve results.

Tara has proven experience working in leadership roles with other strong brands such as Woodbine Entertainment, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Michael Bregman

Chairman & Director

Michael Bregman, Chairman of the Board for Aegis Brands, is the Principal and CEO for Tailwind Capital Inc., which operates an investment fund. Michael has been the CEO of Second Cup from 1989-2002 and was the founder and CEO of mmmarvellous mmmuffins and michel’s baguette, French Bakery Café.

Michael has served as a director of several corporations and non-profit organizations, including Clairvest Group Inc., where he chairs the audit committee.

Michael Serruya

Director

Michael Serruya, Director for Aegis Brands, is a Managing Director of Serruya Private Equity which operates as a private equity and venture capital firm that focuses on merger and acquisition activities, investing and lending and investment management. Serruya Private Equity conducts business worldwide and has assets under management in excess of $1 billion dollars.

Michael began his career at age twenty as one of the co-founders of Yogen Fruz. Michael was also the CEO of Coolbrands and more recently acted as CEO of Kahala Brands.

Aaron Serruya

Director

Aaron Serruya, Director for Aegis Brands, is a Managing Director of Serruya Private Equity, as well as President of International Franchise Inc., which has over 4,500 frozen yogurt and ice cream franchises worldwide, in over 50 countries. Aaron has deep operational expertise, which includes strategic planning, quality control, and marketing.

Aaron began his career at age nineteen as the other co-founder of Yogen Fruz. Aaron has also been involved at various levels, in Coolbrands and Kahala Brands. Aaron has over three decades of experience in the retail franchising sector.

Stephen Kelley

Director

Stephen S. Kelley is the Chief Executive Officer of Stocom Research Trading & lnvestments Ltd. and has held that position since 2004. Kelley is also a Director of Chartright Air Group and the Board Treasurer of Wind Athletes Canada.

Alton McEwen

Director

Alton McEwen, Director for Aegis Brands and currently leads both the Human Resources and Governance Committee. As a retired food industry executive, Mr. McEwen’s career has been one focused on restructuring, cost reduction, and revenue growth to successfully realize increased value in multiple companies within the food, confectionery and coffee industries in both Canada and the United States.

Through his prestigious career, Mr. McEwen has held positions such as President & CEO, mmmuffins where he led the acquisition of Second Cup Coffee growing it from 105 franchised stores to 350 stores, along with the acquisition of US companies Coffee Plantation, Gloria Jeans, and Coffee People which grew the entire business to over 800 stores. Mr. McEwen also held the role of President & CEO of Second Cup Canada and expanded the brand into the UAE and Kuwait. Mr. McEwen has also held leadership roles within Catelli Ltd. (at Labatt Food Group), as well as President of Laura Secord Ltd, and with the sale of Laura Secord to Rowntree Mackintosh, assumed the role of President and CEO of Rowntree’s confectionery business in Canada and the US.

Mr. McEwen has held roles on other Board of Directors with prestigious companies such as Distance Lands Coffee, Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company, mmmuffins, the Retail Council of Canada and the Canadian Coffee Association.
